Peter Parker quits being Spider-Man because he gets no respect no matter how many people he saves. When he throws his costume away in the garbage, some kid finds it and brings it to J. Jonah Jameson, chief of the Daily Bugle.
While Peter is enjoying life not being Spider-Man, a new crime lord called "Kingpin" rises. When Peter is walking around, he finds a guy being robed and decides to save him. After when he sees that, the guy reminded him of Uncle Ben and why he became Spider-Man. He then decides to steal his costume from J. Jonah Jameson, and becomes Spider-Man once more.

- "Spider-Man No More" was adapted in the series finale of Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. In this version, Peter Parker gives up being Spider-Man after he is tricked by the Gaines Twins into hurting Indy, Peter's potential love interest.
- "Spider-Man No More!" storyline was used as the main inspiration for the 2004 film, Spider-Man 2.
- The cover of this issue was also the inspiration for a The Incredible Hulk (2008) movie promo poster, issue number 392 of the Amazing Spider-Man and the cover of Hulk #13.
- The infamous panel where Peter puts his costumes in a garbage can is redone in a panel of Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man where Miles Morales gives up on being Spider-Man, in a issue of Marvel Zombies and a issue of a comic book based on Spider-Man 2.
