Serena Patel (of Earth-TRN579), better known as Doctor Octopus 2099 is the Doctor Octopus varation in the alternate timeline reality of Earth-TRN579.

Her first appearance was in the video game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

History[]

Early life[]

Serena Patel became the head of Alchemax's Shadow Division, obtaining a position of authority within the company. Patel was inspired by the exploits of Otto Octavius, the original Doctor Octopus, and after learning he apparently killed the Spider-Man of the Heroic Age, she designed a battle armor patterned after him, and declared herself the new Doctor Octopus.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions[]

When the fragments of the Tablet of Order and Chaos appeared in the 2099 dimension, Patel manipulated Scorpion 2099 into obtaining the fragments in exchange for Scorpion to become human again. She also is rumored to have created Hobgoblin, who was also seeking the fragments.

After Miguel O'Hara defeated Hobgoblin and Scorpion, Serena obtained a tablet fragment and analyzed it, discovering its massive powers. However, possession of it gave her megalomania, causing Patel to turn on her assistants when they tried to calm her down; they were imprisoned in different sections providing power to her Condensed Matter Reactor. Miguel infiltrated her laboratory and tried to obtain the fragment, but Serena caught him and set the lab to self-destruct. However, Miguel evaded the lab and followed her to very heart of the Shadow Division. There, Lady Ock showed Miguel her masterpiece, a Condensed Mass Reactor. With the fragment as an energy source, she planned to wreak havoc upon the city. However, Miguel wounded her pride by not being impressed with her hard work, prompting her to eject him from the control room of the reactor.

To stop her, Miguel deactivated the four cables that fed the reactor with energy and freed her captive assitants. Serena revealed that as long as she had the fragment, the cables were unnecessary. Miguel confronted Serena, who used the fragment to obain technopathy and began to power her reactor. After a long battle, Miguel knocked her out cold and obtained the fragment.

In the end game credits, Lady Ock is shown to be feeding child-like versions of Hobgoblin and Scorpion, and her face is fully revealed for the first time.

Powers and Abilities[]

Former Powers[]

Mystical Empowerment: While in possition of a fragment of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, Serena gained the following abilities:

  • Technopathy: Tablet fragment gived her a powerful technopathy from it also used as a power source for a condensed matter reactor as part of her plan.

Abilities[]

  • Genius-level intellect: Serena is among the greatest scientists in Nueva York (she is a genius compared even to other great scientists of 2099, as she managed to create a machine to harness the powers of a mystical fragment). She is also highly capable in the fields of technology, genetics, and very knowledgeable in the history of the Heroic Age.

Weaknesses[]

  • Arrogance: While her intellect is one of her greatest assets, it is also one of her greatest weaknesses; as her arrogance makes her think that no one can match her in any battle, of any sort.
  • Emotional state: Also, she apparently has a short temper; During her encounter with Miguel, every time they spoke to each other, she got angered to the point where she was attempting to kill him.
