The Thunderbolts led by Norman Osborn come to New York City to hunt down the fugitive Spider-Man, who has been framed for a series of murders.

Meanwhile, at the F.E.A.S.T. shelter run by Mister Negative, the cancer-ridden Eddie Brock miraculously becomes healthy. When the Thunderbolts track Spider-Man to the F.E.A.S.T. shelter, Brock reacts to the Venom symbiote by transforming him into Anti-Venom (in Amazing Spider-Man #569) who begins to attack both Venom and Spider-Man to remove all traces of the Venom symbiote from both.

Spider-Man and Anti-Venom team up to take down the Thunderbolts and after a battle which results in a building collapse. Songbird tells Spider-Man to lie low for the next few days. Norman Osborn then holds a press conference to say that Spider-Man has died in the collapse.
