— Spider-Man

Marc Spector (of Earth-1610), better known as Moon Knight and Ronin, is a former member of the Knights and an ex-Navy Seal. As Moon Knight, Marc is considered a menace by the public, but as Ronin, he is considered a hero and is looked up to by the people of New York City.

History[]

Early Life[]

Not much is known about Marc's life prior to his heroic debut as Moon Knight. What we do know is that Marc fought in the Gulf War as a Navy Seal. During the war, Marc underwent a procedure gone wrong that turned him into a Super Soldier. The procedure gifted Marc with enhanced strength, speed and healing.

Shortly after the procedure, Marc developed MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) and created 4 alternate personalities. Two of these alternate personalities would later manifest as Marc's heroic personas Moon Knight and Ronin, while the other two manifest as a man named Steven Grant and a unnamed red-headed girl.

After he returned to New York following the end of the Gulf War, Marc worked for Roxxon as a enforcer going under the alias Paladin until the corporation fell apart.

Enter the Moon Knight[]

Moon Knight (Earth-1610)

Marc as Moon Knight

Marc first encountered Spider-Man during a gang war between Hammerhead and the Kingpin. Spider-Man was investigating an explosion Hammerhead had set off in a warehouse when he was attacked by Marc, whose Moon Knight personality was in control at the time, who believed that Spider-Man was the one that destroyed the warehouse and demands that Spider-Man tell him why he did it. Spider-Man tried to explain that he didn't do it, but Moon Knight refuses to listen as he believes the media's claims that Spider-Man is a menace. Spider-Man then catches Moon Knight off-guard and the two battle. After the police and fire department arrive on the scene of the warehouse fire, Spider-Man escapes. This battle with Spider-Man put Marc at grudging odds with the younger hero in their future encounters.

Later, after having a mental argument between 3 of his personalities on how to handle Spider-Man, Moon Knight resumed his efforts to end the ongoing crime war. This led to conflict between the other heroes who involved in the crime war such as Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, and Black Cat. While he fought the other heroes, the Kingpin's personal assassin Elektra took the opportunity to stab him, but Moon Knight was luckily able to impale Elektra through the back of her head before she could kill Black Cat before succumbing to his injury and slipped into a coma.

The Birth of Ronin[]

Not long after, Moon Knight woke up and quickly escaped from police custody and quickly resumed his war against the Kingpin which brought him into direct conflict with the Punisher, Spider-Man, and Daredevil.

After the battle was over, Daredevil, impressed with Moon Knights skills, invited him to join his newly formed team as he believed Moon Knight would be an asset in their endeavors to bring down the Kingpin. In order to infiltrate the Kingpin's organization, Marc created the Ronin persona.

Ronin vs. Moon Knight

In order to prove himself worthy of the Kingpin's trust, Ronin agreed to track down and capture Spider-Man. In order to lure his query out into the open, Ronin drove a school bus into Midtown High School and started firing a gun at the students. Unbeknownst to Ronin, the X-Man Kitty Pryde was a student there and she attempted to stop his rampage, but was swiftly defeated and knocked unconscious as Spider-Man arrived on the scene.

Spider-Man and Ronin engaged each other in a brutal battle as Marc's Moon Knight and Ronin personalities engaged each other in a mental duel as Moon Knight wanted to kill Spider-Man for his interference in the past while Ronin only wanted to apprehend him as part of his plan. The mental duel ended with the Moon Knight personality being seemingly killed by Ronin while at the same time Ronin knocked Spider-Man unconscious and used Spider-Man's Web-Shooters to take the helpless hero to the Kingpin's hideout for interrogation.

Shortly after Iron Fist's ratted out his team to save his daughter, the Kingpin discovered that Ronin was working for Daredevil, but chooses to keep this fact hidden until Ronin had brought him Spider-Man. Ronin was then present at the Kingpin's interrogation of an unmasked Peter Parker, when the Kingpin revealed to Ronin that he was aware of his treachery and preceded to beat him along with Peter. After his act of self-gratification, Kingpin ordered his men to execute Ronin. Kingpin's men took Ronin by a river and shot him in the head. Luckily, Ronin survived and went to the police claiming that the Kingpin attempted to murder him. This provided the charges needed for the police to arrest the Kingpin, but unfortunately Marc had to reveal his secret identity to the police for a charge to be placed. Surprisingly, rather then chastising him for his past actions as Moon Knight, the people of New York praised him as a hero. Unfortunately, Marc wasn't completely rid of the shadow of Moon Knight because during brush with death that his Moon Knight personality still existed in his mind.

Powers & Abilities[]

Powers[]

As a Super Soldier, Marc has enhanced speed, enhanced strength, and enhanced healing factor. The full extent of these enchantments is currently unknown, but Marc is at fast enough to outrun Spider-Man, strong enough to demolish a brick wall by kicking it, and is able to recover from fatal wounds such as a direct shot to the head. Marc's healing factor appears to be tied to his MPD as he can only use it when all 4 of his personalities are in agreement that they want to live. This limitation is doesn't affect his enhanced speed or strength. These powers were later enhanced further by Doctor Strange's magic.

Abilities[]

Moon Knight is an exceptional athlete, acrobat, and combatant, skilled in various weapons and martial arts, capable of shattering brickwork with a blow. Unlike most MPD sufferers, Grant's personae are aware of each other and their actions, and they usually cooperate to achieve shared goals; inexplicably when Moon Knight has twice been rendered unconscious by severe injuries, the others remained active in his mindscape and proved capable or reviving him. He also has no finger prints capable of identifying him.

Weaknesses[]

Marc surfers from Multiple Personality Disorder which causes his behavior to be erratic at times while at other times he is completely composed. Depending on which of his personalities is in control, he can be either a ally or an enemy. It is believed his MPD is a side effect of the Super Soldier treatment that Marc underwent as it didn't manifest until after he received the treatment and it his tied to his healing factor, but no conclusive evidence has been shown to confirm this.
