One of Norman Osborn's most ruthless Enforcers is Joseph Lorenzini, the man called Hammerhead. Lorenzini earned his nickname for three reasons: One, he worked his way up through the organization as one of New York's toughest loan sharks. Two, like a shark, he was always moving, stopping only to grab a bite to eat, or to bump someone off. And three, the biggest reason they call him Hammerhead is because of his inches-thick skull, resulting in an abnormally huge head - and an especially damaging head-butt to go with it.
Like most of Goblin's gang, Osborn found Hammerhead at a carnival freak show. Back then, he was known as the Human Bulldozer, able to knock through sheets of thick ice just by charging headfirst. Years later, as a loan shark, Hammerhead would find this method extremely effective as a stylish way to break people's backs when they failed to make their payments.
Hammerhead has moved up in the world since then, broadening his deadly repertoire. Now, instead of just head-butting people to death, he also enjoys mowing 'em down with twin Tommy guns. He almost feels at one with them...
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
Hammerhead and his henchmen found one of the fragments of the Tablet of Order and Chaos in New Jersey and were told by their boss that "The Spider-Man" was searching for it. (it is probable that they learned this from the Noir Spider-Man's tutorial, in which he subdued Osborn's goons to get a fragment.)
Spider-Man subsequencely followed them and hitched a ride behind their car, following Hammerhead and his henchmen to a train station. There, Hammerhead ordered his henchmen to guard a group of hostages he had gathered to distract Spider-Man. However, Spider-Man managed to rescue the hostages and tie up all the goons. Hammerhead challenged him to a fight, where he used a large machine gun against Spider-Man. Attacking him from behind, Spider-Man defeated Hammerhead. He tricked Spider-Man into thinking that he had surrendered, and then stunned him with a headbutt and escaped. Spider-Man followed him and rescued all the remaining hostages. Hammerhead then challenged Spider-Man Noir to a fair fight, but ended up having his goons fight him for him, lying yet again. After the bulk of the goons were defeated and the rest fled, Hammerhead fled with the fragment, coaxing Spider-Man to follow him if he wants it back.
Spider-Man cornered Hammerhead in an abandoned building, however, Hammerhead activated the tablet fragment and his guns were merged into his hands, transforming into a 21st century era Vulcan Machine gun (right hand) and a missile launcher (left hand). Hammerhead declared that after he killed Spider-Man, he would kill Osborn and take over New York. After a long fight, Spider-Man defeated Hammerhead and claimed the fragment.
According to the credits, as a result of losing the Fragment Hammerhead's guns were once again seperated from his body. It's shown he enjoyed having his guns being a literal extension of himself and is having his goons tape his guns to his hands to re-create the experience.
