"Never wound...what you can't kill.. "
Eddies produces a "photo" showing Spider-Man robbing a bank. Eddie has obviously done a good job on making a convincing photo and he is promoted to "Staff Photographer". However, when Peter (whose dark side is shown by his black suit) finds out about this deception (The photo was made using an older one of his own), finds evidence proving the plagiarism. Naturally, Eddie is fired shortly afterwards and J. Jonah Jameson reluctantly prints a retraction (for the first time in 20 years) on Robbie Robertson's insistence.
Naturally, Eddie wants revenge. He bonds with Venom and tricks Sandman into helping capture Mary Jane Watson and try to kill Peter. In an ensuing battle, Venom and Sandman fight Spider-Man and the New Goblin. As the fight continues, Venom fatally wounds Harry (New Goblin), angering Peter. Peter separates Eddie from the symbiote using high frequency sounds. He then throws a pumpkin bomb at the symbiote just as Eddie leaps for the symbiote, accidentally killing Eddie.
