Earth-985 is an alternate reality in which the Silver Surfer bonded with the Carnage symbiote of that universe.

In Earth-985, The Carnage symbiote was able to bond with the Silver Surfer long enough to allow the manifestation of cosmic powers. After a battle with the Avengers and Spider-Man.
During the second battle with the Carnage, Spider-Man and the others were once again easily bested by Carnage. Firestar managed to harm the symbiote enough to allow the Silver Surfer control over his body.
Realizing that there was only one way to stop the Carnage symbiote, the Silver Surfer flew himself into the sun, destroying both himself and the symbiote.
