History
Edit
Early life
Edit

Added by DalekSupreme13Otto's efforts eventually paid off, and he was granted a university scholarship. Unfortunately, during his first year of college, his father died in an industrial accident. This made Otto delve even further in his studies. He focused on physical sciences. When he graduated, he managed to get a job at an engineering firm, eventually becoming an esteemed nuclear physicist and research consultant. He also became a gifted inventor, and often gave lectures.
During this time, Otto invented the apparatus that would give him his name; a set of advanced mechanical arms controlled by the brain. Shortly after this, Otto began a relationship with Mary Alice Anders, a fellow researcher. He even asked her to marry him, though he broke off the engagement when his mother voiced her disapproval. This led to an argument which caused his mother to have a fatal heart attack. These additional losses made Otto focus entirely on his work, while ignoring the precautions he once respected.
Becoming Doc Ock
Edit

Added by DalekSupreme13Undeterred, Otto served his time and, after being released, accepted a job from Blackie Gaxton to spring him from prison, with the help of Bennett Brant. Spider-Man once again stopped him, but Bennett was shot. Otto fled the scene on the escape boat meant for Gaxton, and began committing crimes in other parts of the country, vainly hoping that Spider-Man would attempt to stop him again. When Spider-Man continuously failed to appear, he returned to New York, intent on besting the hero.
Otto remembered that in their last battle, Spider-Man was drawn into the conflict to save Betty Brant, and kidnapped her. As expected, Spider-Man arrived, though he was weakened. Otto easily defeated this weaker Spider-Man and unmasked him as Peter Parker. Believing that this weaker Spider-Man was not the one that bested him before, Otto rampaged through New York, releasing several zoo animals. This finally caught the "real" Spider-Man's attention, who defeated Otto yet again, trapping him in a burning building.
Forming the Sinister Six
Edit
Yet again, Otto found himself imprisoned, though this time without his tentacles. A team of specialists had seen fit to remove the harness and place it in another part of the facility. At this point, Otto discovered that he could still control his tentacles even if they were not attached to his body. Using this newfound skill, he summoned them back to him and escaped from prison once more.
Learning from his past failures, Otto knew he could not defeat Spider-Man on his own. Desiring the wall-crawler's death, he contacted every foe Spider-Man has faced. Only five responded; the Sandman, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, the Vulture, and Mysterio. He appealed to their desire for the glory of being the one to kill Spider-Man, while planning to take the title for himself. He organized a gauntlet, where Spider-Man would be forced to face each villain one on one, until he faced Otto last. Otto would then kill the exhausted and injured hero.
Needing something to draw the wall-crawler's attention, the newly named "Sinister Six" kidnapped Betty Brant, as well as May Parker, who Betty was visiting. This forced Spider-Man into action, as expected. Otto's plan then unfolded. Spider-Man defeated every villain, and finally fought Otto in a giant fishbowl. In spite of his exhaustion, Spider-Man bested him again, and all six villains were sent back to prison.
The Master Planner
Edit
Otto escaped the prison, and crafted a new identity for himself. Calling himself the "Master Planner", he crafted a series of thefts, in which he stole experimental substances to craft a radiation ray to rule the world with. However, his plan was fated to intersect with Spider-Man. His underlings stole an experimental substance, dubbed ISO-36, that Spider-Man needed to save his dying aunt. Spider-Man was able to track him to his underwater base, and was shocked to discover that the Master Planner was his longtime foe, Doctor Octopus. The base was destroyed in their battle, and Otto's plan was foiled again.
Otto's next plan to defeat Spider-Man was to use a device known as the Nullifier against Spider-Man. He was able to steal the device after a few attempts, and was able to use the device to temporarily wipe the wall-crawler's memory. He attempted to trick him into believing they were allies, but Spider-Man's spider-sense warned him that Otto could not be trusted. Trusting his senses, he defeated him again.
Once again separated from his tentacles, Otto found that the range that he could control his tentacles remotely had greatly increased, allowing him to escape yet again from prison. Free, he hijacked a plane and faked his death by blowing it up. Now believed to be dead, he began to rampage throughout New York, earning his archenemy's attention yet again. During their fight, Otto accidentally knocked down a chimney that ended up crushing George Stacy, the father of Spider-Man's girlfriend. George had been protecting a child from the falling chimney.
Uncle Octopus
Edit
After breaking out of prison, Otto engaged Hammerhead in a gang war, taking advantage of the Kingpin's absence to claim dominion. Spider-Man's intervention was swift, and landed them all back in prison. While Otto was imprisoned, he found a catalyst for his next plan in the form of news that May Parker had just inherited a small island in Canada that held a commercial nuclear reactor. Once he was released from prison, he set out to marry May, and very nearly succeeded. The wedding was interrupted before it could be completed by Hammerhead. Otto fought the crime boss, inadvertently destroying the reactor he desired so much.
Arachnophobia
Edit
Otto later found himself battling the Owl. Spider-Man and the Black Cat attempt to intervene. The Black Cat was grievously wounded, leading a furious Spider-Man to beat Otto within an inch of his life. The violent defeat scarred Otto's psyche and caused him to have an intense fear of the wall-crawler. He was placed in a mental institution, in the hopes that his mind could be healed of the trauma. In spite of this fear, Otto was not deterred from his criminal career, instead choosing to be more creative with his schemes. He attempted to poison all of New York, using printers' ink. Spider-Man was unable to best this scheme, and was forced to fake a defeat. This restored Otto's confidence, and allowed him to face his foe again.
Later, Otto was dismayed to discover that Mary Alice, his ex-fiance, was dying from AIDS. Otto immediately began searching for a cure, going so far as to steal any materials he needed. His efforts were in vain, however, and Mary Alice died. Crushed by the death of one of the few people he cared about, he surrendered to Spider-Man, and was returned to prison.
Otto would escape yet again, in spite of his despair, and ended up saving Spider-Man's life. Spider-Man had been injected with a poison by the Vulture, and was near death. Not willing to let anyone but himself have the pleasure of ending the hero, he captured Spider-Man and analyzed his ailment. During the tests, he was forced to unmask him, and discovered his true identity as Peter Parker. Otto was able to create a cure, and gave it to Spider-Man. Without any other options, he accepted the cure, and was healed.
Death and Return
Edit
Otto would eventually meet his end at the hand of Spider-Man's mad clone, Kaine. This would not last, however, as he was eventually resurrected by the Hand. Otto discovered that, in his absence, someone else had been using the Doctor Octopus title, a woman named Carolyn Trainer. She was happy to return his tentacles to him, and became his assistant. However, his resurrection was not perfect. Unbeknownst to him, his mind had been wiped of the knowledge of Spider-Man's identity by Carolyn, for reasons unknown.
After his resurrection, Otto tried several new schemes, such as creating a villainous Spider-Woman and attempting to create an army of brainwashed minions using prosthetics, but every attempt was foiled by Spider-Man. He also had to deal with another would-be usurper to his villainous title, a man named Luke Carlyle. He envied Otto's power, and wished to take it for himself. Otto defeated him with the help of Spider-Man.

Added by DalekSupreme13During the Civil War, Otto attempted to form another Sinister Six, only for it to be swiftly defeated by the Secret Avengers. Otto alone managed to avoid capture. Also during this time, Otto watched the telecast in which Spider-Man revealed his identity to the world. Furious that he had been bested so many times by a teenage boy, Otto attacks the city. He ended up being defeated by an unmasked Spider-Man, and is sent to Baron Zemo's detention facility, where he is recruited into the Thunderbolts. Otto soon after left the team, not seeing a point in helping them, but was apprehended by S.H.I.E.L.D. and imprisoned.

Edit
Otto assembles a new supervillain team. He sends them after several items, promising rewards later, while he attempts to procure the newborn son of Menace. With the infant having pure Goblin Serum in his veins, Otto believes that it can be used to heal his failing body. Otto is once again thwarted by Spider-Man during his attempt, so he sends the villains after him. Unfortunately for Otto, they fail as well.
Otto sets his Octo-Bot army upon New York, drawing not only Spider-Man's attention, but also the attention of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. As they fend off the robots, Otto and a new Sinister Six attack, planning to detonate a military base. With the combined might of the heroes, they are able to foil Otto's plan yet again.
Prolonging the Inevitable
Edit
His final plan requiring time to complete, Otto kidnaps Tony Stark and forces him to fashion a robot suit to prolong his life. Tony is unwilling to assist, so Otto threatens to detonate a nuclear bomb unless he complies. Stark is able to build the suit, giving Otto the time he needs to finish his master plan.
Ends of the Earth
Edit
Gathering the Sinister Six once more, Otto begins his plan. He announces to the world that he has crafted a device called the "Octavian Lens" that he can use to burn half of the planet. He intends to use the device, but he promises to reverse global warming if the United Nations do not interfere. After making this announcement, he sends out the Sinister Six, instructing them to steal various items that can be used to defeat the Avengers.
Otto goes to the UN to appeal to them, after getting the Chameleon to pose as Al Gore. Spider-Man and the Avengers interrupt the meeting and expose the Chameleon. He is taken into custody, but is later freed by Otto and the rest of the Sinister Six. They quickly discover that they have been tailed by the Avengers, and begin to battle. Using the items that Otto had them procure, they are able to defeat the Avengers. Spider-Man and Otto face off, but Spider-Man is able to escape the futile battle thanks to Silver Sable.
Otto and his team return to his secret base, and Otto announces his demands. He desires clean records for his team, two billion dollars per person, and an academy built in his honor bearing his name. He also announces that he still intends to fix global warming if they comply.
Otto threatens his teammates in order to make them obey his orders, making them begin to question continuing working with him. Unwilling to take chances with his plans, Otto sends a message to a group called the "Dark Corners", asking them to ensure that his plans continue even in the event of his death. However, one of the members of the group, a Russian hero called Titanium Man, informs Spider-Man of the message. Spider-Man attacks Otto's facility, and Otto then realizes that he never intended to cure global warming. Rather, he planned to activate the Octavian lens whether his demands were met or not. To prove this, he activated the machine, incinerating half of the world, including Silver Sable's home nation of Symkaria.
This is revealed to be a trick by Mysterio, however, who was masquerading as Otto inside a Doctor Octopus battle suit. Otto learns of this and chides Mysterio for it. Mysterio decides to help Spider-Man after this, and reveals that Otto's base is in Guatemala. Spider-Man, Silver Sable, and the Black Widow rush to the base, only to be halted by The Avengers, who have been brainwashed by Otto to serve as his new Sinister Six. Spider-Man alone is able to get past all of Otto's defenses, and Otto reveals that he planned to destroy almost the entirety of the human race, in order for the remaining few to rebuild the race in his image, cementing his place in history. This infuriates Spider-Man, and enables the wall-crawler to break free of Otto's tentacles and smash the controls to the Octavian Lens, ruining Otto's master plan.
The Superior Spider-Man

Powers & Abilities
Edit
- He has a mechanical apparatus that was fused into his spinal cord in a freak accident. It consists of four titanium arms that are controlled by his thoughts.
- Each arm is equipped with 3, single-jointed pinchers, and can each move at a speed of 90 feet per second. In addition to the benefit of four mechanically controlled limbs, the arms are capable of lifting 8 tons each, making for a grand total of 32 tons if he uses all four arms at once. Octavius also frequently uses his lower 2 mechanical arms as a pair of legs when he is not in combat, as the arms are capable of moving much faster than the average human.
